DEX/UCS is an acronym for Direct Exchange / Uniform Communication Standard.

DEX is the two-way electronic exchange of information, at the time of delivery, between a vendor's hand-held computer and a store's inventory system.

It's currently used by a number of our customers who generate invoices but still need to enter the invoice detail into the retailer's computer system during the receiving process.

DEX/UCS benefits supply chain partners

Supplier
Reduces invoicing / sales ticket errors
Avoids manual entry into DSD system reducing delivery labor hours

Supplier and retailer benefits
Reduces check-in time
Reduces the labor and associated damage by stopping the delivery  unauthorized items at the point of delivery

Retailer
Capitalizes on the use of the DSD system by:
Closing the loop for inventory management - product detail comes straight from the supplier's system upon delivery
Administrative cost savings by ending manual keying of delivery invoices by store personnel
